CSU Lasam facilitates cacao production training, basic computer literacy

‎To further the "Cacaoan sa Bawat Tahanan", a program that aims to empower cacao growers and cacao production in the Municipality of Lasam, the Campus Extension Office at CSU Lasam led training on Basic Cacao Production and Digital Literacy at Barangay Magsaysay, Lasam, Cagayan, today, April 5, 2025.

‎The program began with welcoming remarks from Barangay Captain Antonio Genobebe, who expressed his appreciation for the said program, followed by a program overview delivered by Campus Extension Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Bernard Madarang.

‎The morning session featured simultaneous discussions, including cybersecurity facilitated by CICS Dean Assoc. Prof. Jake Maggay and a hands-on tutorial on spreadsheets and Microsoft Excel led by Assoc. Prof. Josephine Maggay.

‎In the afternoon, Asst. Prof. Gary Joseph Bautista delivered an introductory lecture on the Government Procurement Reform Act (R.A. 9184) and the New Government Procurement Act (R.A. 12009), tailored for Barangay Officials, while Prof. Madarang presented to Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Members the Cacao Nursery Establishment and Management.

‎Furthermore, the participants engaged in sharing their insights and reflections with notable contributions from Barangay Captain Genobebe and Ms. Madelyn Ragutero, followed by the awarding of certificates of participation to both the attendees and the facilitators.

The program officially concluded with closing remarks from SK Chairperson Jolan Pascua, who conveyed his gratitude and offered encouragement for ongoing community development initiatives.
