John Roland Baysa, a student from Cagayan State University (CSU) Lasam Campus, won bronze medal in the recently concluded Philippine Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (PEKAF) National Open Arnis Championship held at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Malate, Manila, June 28-30, 2024
Out of 32 competing teams from the different regions in the Philippines, Baysa secured the 3rd place as he dominated the Light Stick Category, Light Weight Division.
"I strengthened my heart by praying to the Lord and placing my trust in Him. I fought despite the reality that my opponents were stronger and faster than me", said Baysa.
"I cannot afford to lose because I do not want to disappoint anyone, especially my coach and those who have supported us financially", the Bronze Medalist stated as he conveyed his appreciation to the people who extended their helping hands for him to continue playing Arnis.
Baysa is well-known for his skills in the field of Arnis as he earned recognitions and medals in various competitions, proving that he is dedicated and devoted to his craft.
