The College of Industrial Technology (CIT) of Cagayan State University – Lasam Campus has made its mark in the academic research arena as its technological research entry clinched 2nd Place during the Search for Best Undergraduate Thesis and Best Mentor held at CSU-Andrews Campus today, June 16, 2025.
The recognized entry, titled “Design and Fabrication of the Filler 1, Filler 2, and Suction (F2S) Portable Machine for Efficlent Automotive Maintenance,” was authored by student-researchers Jhon Gamboa, Rexly Javier, and Leo Paculdar, which was expertly mentored by Mr. Jhonvee Dabbay, who also secured the 2nd Best Mentor in the same category, and Dr. Gilbert C. Magulod Jr., both of whom played instrumental roles in guiding the students throughout the research process.
Highlighting the importance of student-led innovation and the role of research in shaping industry-ready graduates, Campus Executive Officer Dr. Florante Victor M. Balatico expressed strong support for the achievement.
“This is a testament of the commitment to one of the other priority areas (OPA) of the campus towards nurturing a culture of research and development among students, and a future ready work force for domestic and international competitiveness,” CEO FVMB stated.
In addition to CIT’s victory, Jojo Lorenzo from the College of Teacher Education, represented the campus in the Social Category with his study, “Design and Effectiveness of 3-in-1 Toolkit Flashcards in Enhancing Key Stage 1 Phonological Awareness at San Lorenzo Ruiz Educational Institute, Inc.,” which was also mentored by Dr. Magulod.
This year’s success marks the fourth consecutive year that CSU-Lasam Campus has placed in the university-wide Search for Best Undergraduate Thesis.#
