A total of 297 graduates were honored during the 48th Academic Convocation for the Conferment of Degrees and Titles of Cagayan State University (CSU)–Lasam Campus held today, May 12, at the Natalged a Lasam Arena.
The ceremony marked the culmination of the students’ academic journey as graduates from various degree programs formally received their diplomas and academic honors.
In his charge to the graduates, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the University President Prof. Dr. Arthur G. Ibanez emphasized the role of their professions in nation-building and future development.
“Today, your professions contribute directly to national development by strengthening education, modernizing industries, advancing digital transformation, and producing a workforce that is globally competitive and future-ready,” the OIC President said.
Serving as commencement speaker, Hon. Dante Dexter Agatep, Local Chief Executive of the Municipality of Lasam, highlighted the shared achievement of both the university and the municipality.
“Hindi lamang ito tagumpay ng CSU Lasam, kundi tagumpay ng Natalged a Lasam. Isang bayang naniniwala na ang edukasyon ay pundasyon ng pag-unlad. Because I believe that when a municipality invests in education, it invests in the future,” Agatep said.
Representing Batch 2026, John Rey B. Biag, a Cum Laude graduate of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology major in Electronics Technology, reflected on the perseverance of the graduating class.
“We are the students who once walked into the campus filled with uncertainty—unsure of what lies ahead, unsure if we would even make it this far,” Biag said.
The graduates, including 28 Cum Laude awardees, 11 recipients of Academic Distinction, and 12 graduates with Merit, received their diplomas and were formally welcomed as the newest alumni of the university.
