Cagayan State University- Lasam Campus has officially secured the intellectual property rights for the “Lasam Tinupig” label, following the directive of the Local Government Unit of Lasam (LGU-Lasam) to adopt the new tinupig packaging material developed by the campus.
According to the Certificate of Registration issued by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPhil), the trademark was registered under Registration No. 4/2024/005533596 on April 12, 2025, and will remain valid for 10 years, until April 12, 2035.
The trademark filing was initiated on December 9, 2024, and was officially published for opposition in the IPO e-Gazette on March 12, 2025, with no recorded objections.
The branding effort for Tinupig packaging is part of a broader strategy by CSU-Lasam to commercialize research outputs, elevate local industries, and support community-based enterprises, aligning with its mission as a university for the people.
Last February 2025, the LGU-Lasam passed Ordinance No. 2025-001, mandating the use of a new tinupig packaging material developed by CSU-Lasam Campus, thereby strengthening the collaboration between the campus and the local government.
