In support of promoting and sustaining tinupig and cacao-based products, Cagayan State University–Lasam Campus (CSU Lasam) unveiled its lineup of activities for the 75th Founding Anniversary of the Municipality of Lasam. The presentation was held today, May 28, 2025, at the LGU Lasam Conference Room.
Present during the planning were Campus Executive Officer Dr. Florante Victor Balatico; Campus Extension Coordinator Bernard Madarang; Campus Business Coordinator Dominador Agatep, Jr.; Campus Research Coordinator John Carlo Banan; RDE staff Mark Jellicoe Rodillas; and CIT faculty member Kyla Calso. Together, they laid out the campus’ contributions to the forthcoming Diamond Jubilee.
One of the highlights of the event is a culinary showdown featuring tinupig vendors competing in two categories, sweet and savory, with a required fusion of cacao and other locally sourced ingredients.
Executive Assistant Isabella Lozada, Municipal Tourism Officer Elmer Acierto, and Municipal Budget Officer Jose Rebultan, Jr., contributed valuable inputs to the planning of the activities.
The aforementioned LGU officials expressed the municipality’s full support and assured that all necessary pre-operational preparations will be carried out to ensure the successful implementation of the event.
Additionally, the university will unveil sustainable and eco-friendly tinupig packaging developed by CSU Lasam researchers. This innovative packaging was recently institutionalized through an ordinance passed by the Sangguniang Bayan of Lasam.
A variety of tinupig and cacao-themed activities will be featured throughout the month-long Tinupig Festival, in celebration of Lasam’s 75th Founding Anniversary. #
