To equip students and faculty members with important survival techniques for earthquake, fire, and general first aid emergencies, Cagayan State University (CSU) Lasam Campus, in collaboration with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), conducted a 3-in-1 safety drill at the DARP Hall today, April 4, 2025.

The 3-in-1 safety drill commenced with an earthquake simulation, in which MDRRMO representative Michael T. Tumabao discussed the crucial role of early warning systems such as sirens and alarms and instructed participants in the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” methods.

Subsequently, Anthony Taguinod of the BFP led the fire drill, highlighting important fire prevention and safety practices and warning against hazardous practices such as octopus wiring. He also reiterated the use of separate outlets for appliances and stressed the importance of unplugging appliances when not in use.

Additionally, Nixson A. Lara Jr. of the MDRRMO led a first aid training, where participants were taught proper first aid administration, wound management, and fracture handling, highlighting the critical need for well-stocked first aid kits at home and in school to enable timely action for medical emergencies.

Meanwhile, students, faculty, and staff actively engaged by posing questions, which were promptly answered by the resource speakers.
