CSU-Lasam Faculty Researchers Recognized for Innovations in Sustainability

The Cagayan State University Lasam has another reason to celebrate as the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lasam recognized the exceptional contributions of the campus’ faculty researchers yesterday, December 20.

Prof. Florante Victor M. Balatico, the Campus Executive Officer (CEO), and Asst. Prof. John Carlo L. Banan, Campus Research Development and Knowledge, and Technology Management and Publication (KTMP) Coordinator were acknowledged for their role as initiator and implementer of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Research and Innovation that benefit the local community.

Meanwhile, another group of faculty researchers, composed of Asst. Prof. Banan, Asst. Prof. Cherry Sanut, Asst. Prof. Manuelito Musni, and Inst. Leonida G. Paat, were honored for their study titled “Development of Tinupig Enhanced with Cacao and Its Packaging.” The research focuses on developing environmentally friendly packaging solutions while enhancing the traditional tinupig product, benefiting both local industries and environmental conservation efforts.

The awarding ceremony was held at Lasam Arena, where Municipal Mayor Hon. Dante Dexter A. Agatep, Jr., expressed his gratitude to the honorees. He highlighted the importance of their work in inspiring progress and promoting sustainability in the municipality.

These recognitions underscore the strong partnership between CSU-Lasam and LGU Lasam, showcasing the potential of academic research to address societal challenges and empower local communities.
