BAGUIO CITY – Cagayan State University-Lasam Campus conducted a benchmarking activity and 2025 Mid-Year Performance Review at Benguet State University (BSU) from July 31 to August 1, 2025, aiming to strengthen its institutional systems through knowledge-sharing and collaborative opportunities.

The CSU Lasam delegation, composed of campus officials, faculty members, and administrative personnel, was warmly welcomed by BSU President Dr. Kenneth A. Laruan, who expressed appreciation for CSU Lasam's trust in BSU as a model institution for quality assurance and academic development.

One of the highlights of the benchmarking was the engagement with BSU’s Office of Quality Assurance and Accreditation (OQAA), represented by Ms. Evelyn D. Rosario, who shared the university’s system for managing quality assurance documents and processes.

According to Rosario, the preparation of documents for accreditation is a shared responsibility between the colleges and the OQAA. While documents are provided by individual colleges, they are closely monitored and reviewed by the QA office, placing a strong emphasis on the completeness and accuracy of submitted documents, strict compliance with prescribed templates, and the regular updating of files to eliminate obsolete materials.

Atty. Andres Arnold W. Lampacan also shared insights on BSU’s financial management, highlighting key principles and practices that ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency in resource utilization. He also introduced the adoption of BSU’s first Administrative and Finance Calendar, which outlines key deadlines, including the scheduled submission of the Project Procurement Management Plan (PPMP), to streamline processes and enhance budget coordination.

Part of the benchmarking involved a site visit to the Northern Philippines Root Crops Research and Training Center (NPRCRTC), where CSU Lasam participants explored potential applications for agricultural innovation and research linkages.

On the other hand, the CSU Lasam delegation also held its 2025 Mid-Year Performance Review and Gender-Transformative Team Building during the visit. Office heads presented their accomplishments for the first half of the academic year, highlighting milestones in instruction, research, extension, production, and administrative operations.

The two-day engagement reaffirmed CSU Lasam's commitment to continuous improvement and cross-institutional cooperation as it advances its mission of providing quality and inclusive education.
