In pursuit of expanding its research and extension efforts in cacao processing and sustainable agriculture, Cagayan State University Lasam (CSU Lasam) held an exploratory meeting today with Dr. Jerry L. Jurado, a US-based medical doctor who has intentions in cacao farming, to discuss a potential partnership that could boost the region’s cacao industry.
Dr. Jurado, a native of Lasam and currently based in Hoboken, New Jersey, expressed interest in collaborating with CSU-Lasam in the areas of cacao processing, technology transfer, and capacity-building for local farmers and stakeholders.
The dialogue focused on integrating scalable solutions to improve cacao quality, boost processing efficiency, and support the livelihoods of smallholder cacao farmers.
Both parties expressed optimism about future engagements, with follow-up discussions expected in the coming weeks to formalize the partnership roadmap.
